Mikhail Khodorkovsky, accused of stealing 350 million tons of oil from Yukos, the former Russian oil giant that he headed, began his testimony in a Moscow court. He presented an “investigative experiment,” producing a jar of oil and offering the prosecutor to steal the oil by any of the means listed in the indictment (“under the guise of a commercial transaction” etc.). The prosecutor declined on the grounds that experiments in court are not allowed.
