Police detained about 60 demonstrators in central Moscow on Saturday, the Interior Ministry said. Some 200 people met at Triumfalnaya Square who “made an attempt to hold an unauthorized event,” the ministry press service said. The event was covered by about 100 media reporters and bloggers, it added. Civic protesters hold traditional campaigns in support of Article 31 of the Russian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of assembly, on the 31st of every month with 31 days. The next day, April 1, more than 50 demonstrators were detained near the Red Square that was blocked by the authorities to prevent the demonstration.
