Journalist Attacked in Moscow

Oleg Kashin, a prominent Russian journalist writing for the Kommersant newspaper, was attacked and brutally beaten by two unknown men in central Moscow outside his apartment. Kashin had a fractured jaw, broken shins and injuries to his fingers and skull. The police have begun an investigation and are treating this as a case of attempted murder. Kashin’s colleagues believe the attack was retribution for articles he wrote. Kashin is now in a hospital in an induced coma. (video) (video)
