On March 31, the opposition in Moscow held its traditional demonstration in support of the Article 31 of the Russian Constitution (freedom of assembly). As usual, the demonstration was banned by the authorities and dispersed by the police. Dozens of participants were detained. A number of other demonstrations, including those devoted to victims of the recent Moscow subway suicide bombings, were allowed.
