Ex-presidential candidate, Andrey Sannikov, was sentenced today to five-years imprisonment in Minsk, Belarus, for “organization of riots” on December 19, 2010 when the latest Presidential election took place in Belarus. Experts believe that Sannikov’s trial was staged and directed by the Belarusian authoritarian leader, Alexander Lukashenko. Many other members of the Belarus political opposition were also sentenced today in Belarus as a result of similar trials.
