As reported by the Wall Street Journal blog, President Medvedev has signed into law a Russian anti-corruption law, which prohibits foreign bribery and imposes criminal and (for the first time) economic sanctions for corrupt actions. It provides for liability of the person giving the bribe, the official receiving it, and any intermediary who may participate in the scheme. The step was welcomed by the OECD in a press release, but did not receive widespread coverage in Russia, which was in the midst of early May holidays.
